The Home Corner – Junior Infant Aistear Theme for November

Throughout the month of November, the pupils of Junior Infants were learning all about the home. 

In our oral language lessons, we learnt the names of many objects and rooms in the home ( click here to see the full list of words). 

We read many stories under the theme “homes”, such as A Squash and a Squeeze and our favourite, The Three Little Pigs. 

In Science, we used the story of the three pigs to learn about materials.

In Geography and Maths, we made a pictograph to show the different types of homes we live in. 

In S.P.H.E. and Art  we drew pictures of the people that live in our house. 

In Irish we learned a lot of words under the theme “An Teach” (The House).

We consolidated all of this learning through Aistear.

We had 4 stations this month.

1. Role-play = The Home Corner
2. Small World/Construction = Three Little Pigs
3. Playdough = The Home
4. Fine Motor = Jigsaws, threading, and tieing shoe laces.
